Faith@Home Mom Insight #5

Well, you can be overwhelmed right now or you can just get started somewhere doing something of what God has commanded you to do. To be honest…getting overwhelmed is not an option. Getting overwhelmed is like saying to your child “since I think I might fail at this or don’t want to look foolish in front of you or I don’t have time to add ONE more thing to my plate, then I am not going to try at all.” Sorry, not acceptable. It doesn’t matter if the only thing you start with is saying a blessing before a meal EVERY time you eat. Or asking your child when they jump in the car EVERY day, “Hey, any blessings God showed you today?” Or waking them up EVERY morning with a small prayer of thanks for the day that is to come. Did you catch what was key? EVERY. When the journey begins between you and your kids, it has to be intentional. Without the intent, without the non-negotiable behavior, without the “stick to it” determination, it will fall away like all great things that start on a Monday with gusto and end on Saturday with a fizzle. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

Why Are We Offering Faith@Home Coaching?

As you are probably aware the Faith@Home movement is an international movement that God is leading through the church to reestablish the home as the primary place where faith is lived, expressed and nurtured.  This movement is spreading across Canada, the US as well as Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Sweden and the Netherlands as thousands of church leaders are examining how they can lead their ministry in a more faith@home focused manner.  Since this is a new, ever evolving and fast growing movement many church leaders today are seeking ways to connect and learn from one another.  That’s why we are offering online, Faith@Home coaching networks.  Through these networks church leaders from across the world will have an opportunity to participate in a webcast to gain fresh insights and learn from other like minded leaders who are working to make their ministry more Faith@Home focused.  In addition to this we also wanted to create a place where you can learn from some leading practitioners who have developed successful approaches that we run across in our travels for the Faith@Home movement.

The final reason why we are offering online coaching is to help you keep the momentum going after you have heard a message or attended a conference that has positively challenged you to be a more faith@home focused leader/church.  Becoming a faith@home focused church is going to take time and we wanted to be there, through coaching, to help you build a strong and lasting faith@home strategy into your church ministry structure.  Through online coaching you will now have an opportunity to get fresh, new faith@home insights and support each month without having to leave your office or home!

What Is Online Faith@Home Coaching?

During the months of September-May, Pastor Mark Holmen will provide live, Faith@Home online coaching webcasts for three networks of church leaders;

  1. Sr. Pastors
  2. Children’s ministry leaders
  3. Youth leaders

Each coaching session will be one hour in length and will begin with Pastor Mark identifying and addressing the topic for that month’s session. Pastor Mark will then welcome and introduce a “guest practitioner” who will share his/her insights on the given topic. The final 15-20 minutes of each coaching session will provide an open time for questions where you can ask and learn from one another.
The online coaching sessions will be via WebEx which is a very familiar system which is used by many organizations all over the world, including many seminaries, for online teaching/learning like this. For more information about WebEx go to: http://www.webex.com/how-it-works/index.html. To participate, all you need is a computer with high speed internet and/or a phone to dial in on.
The fee for each Faith@Home online coaching network is $300 or if your church wants to subscribe to all three networks of coaching the fee is $750. Please note that this fee is something that provides some of the financial support needed for our team of Faith@Home missionaries who have to raise their own financial support. Essentially, we are your Faith@Home missionaries and this fee helps us to serve you.

Family of Faith Conference Sacred Households: Building Authentic Faith In Families

JUNE 10-12, 2010 - MALIBU, CA

The Family of Faith Network Conference is designed for church leaders, specifically ministers and lay leaders who are responsible for strengthening families and reaching out to the family through the local church. Individuals and couples wanting to strengthen faith development in their families are also encouraged to attend.
Desiring to strengthen family ministry in the church, Pepperdine University’s Boone Center for the Family hosts the second annual Family of Faith Network Conference. The theme of this year’s conference is spiritual development and faith formation in the family. The Boone Center for the Family has carefully selected each speaker based on their reputation and commitment to excellence in their field.
The workshops and keynotes will enhance your ability and commitment to developing spiritually vibrant families. The conference enables you to identify areas of strength and growth in your family and in your ministry, as well as learn new techniques, philosophies, disciplines, and rituals designed to set families on the path to authentic faith and sacred households.
Pepperdine provides an ideal setting to rest, renew, and refocus while developing new networks for ministry and exchange. You will have the opportunity to network and fellowship with leaders in the growing field of family and faith development. We look forward to your participation as we draw near to the heart of God and seek His solutions for the challenges of our time.
